All eyes are on the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections slated to be commenced this year. In a few months, the country will face intense elections which give clarity on who will form the government at the Centre. It will be an intense face off between the ruling and opposition parties.

The Bharatiya Janata Party which won two terms is eyeing the third term and wants to script history. It even wants to win more seats than the previous terms. Amid this an interesting debate is going on about whether BJP can do what Congress did in 1984.

The Congress party led by Rajiv Gandhi recorded a landslide victory in 1984 and won 404 seats out of 514 seats. This is the highest for any party so far. However a strong wave helped the Congress. The elections were held after the assassination of Indira Gandhi. The sympathy worked well for the party and it won a lion share of seats.

Now the focus is on the BJP to see what it can do. Talking about the positive aspects of BJP, the Ayodhya Ram Mandir was inaugurated recently. The long standing demand was fulfilled and political observers say that this might help the BJP.

It has to be mentioned here that the BJP has been focusing more on renovating the temples and adding more facilities. We have seen this with the Kashi Corridor project.

The Ram Mandir has been the sentiment of crores of believers who want to witness the historical moment. It was fulfilled recently. The whole nation was gripped with the temple fever and people celebrated the occasion in a big way. Experts say that Ayodhya would be the next global tourist place.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been the soul and body of the BJP for the last few years and the 2024 elections will not be any different. The party will bank on his image and the recent studies say that his image is still intact.

Considering all these factors, it would not be a tough task for BJP to either repeat what Congress did or go past it. However, BJP also has some issues as the opposition parties came under one roof to defeat it. In a few months we will get an answer for this.
