90 Plus Year Old Macallan Whiskey Auctioned For Record Price!

Rare and antique things going into auction and people showing interest is not a new thing. We have seen this many times. But a recent auction event kept everyone talking as a bottle of whisky scripted history as the most expensive as it was sold for millions which is the highest so far.

Going into details, an auction was held in London and the bottle of whiskey surpassed the estimation and was sold at double the estimated amount. A Single malt whiskey bottle which is rare was sold at £2.1m which translates to around RS 22.5 Crores in Indian currency.

A rare Macallan 1926 which was kept listed in Sotheby's auction in London surprised everyone as it was sold for £2.1m. When the bottle was listed for auction it was expected that it would be sold for between £750,000 and £1.2m. But it surpassed the estimations and was sold for £2.1m,£2,187,500 to be precise.

What's special in the auction is that when a Macallan 1926 bottle was listed for auction in 2019 it was sold for £1.5m. Cut to a few years the record was broken as it was sold at £2.1m.

The Rare 1926 Macallan whisky is among the 40 bottles which were bottled in 1986 making them one of the oldest bottles. Despite carrying such a big legacy the bottles are not sold and they are offered to the clients of the company.

However, the bottles are often listed for auctions. It was first listed for auction in 2018. Since then the bottles have been listed for auction and making big amounts.

Before putting the bottles for sale, the heads of the Whisky are allowed to taste it and only a sample will be given. Based on the taste of the bottles the company lists them for auction. This time the bottle raised the highest price.
