The much-awaited IPL Auction is all set to be held in Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on 19th December. A lot of players will be coming up for auction and the massive move of Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians and him replacing Rohit Sharma as the Captain has already generated a lot of buzz on the Indian Premiere League though there are still three months left for it to start.
Interestingly, Hugh Edmeades who has been acting as the auctioneer for the past few seasons has been informed by BCCI that his services are no longer needed. Mallika Sagar will be holding the gavel this year at the prestigious auction. She completed her major from Bryn Mawr College in art history in Philadelphia. She becomes the first woman auctioneer who is an Indian origin.
Mallika Sagar was part of the Pro Kabaddi League auction and was the gavel master for the Women's Premiere League's inaugural auction too. Over 333 players will be on the auction pool and 77 slots need to be filled across the 10 teams. A lot of international stars have made them available for this year's auction as part of getting ready for the upcoming T20 World Cup which will be held in the United States Of America and the West Indies.
Australian World Cup winning captain Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and devastating batsman Travis Head are also going to be auctioned this time.
