A horrific incident that was reported from Kolkata in West Bengal has created a big row and the intensity around the issue is only getting bigger. A young doctor was reportedly raped and murdered. This led to protests from the Doctor Association demanding strict action and justice for the victim.

The accused was arrested by the cops and the investigation is underway. The Principal of the Medical College had stepped down due to criticism. The students also protested against the Principal demanding resignation.

The issue also took a political turn with the BJP targeting the ruling TMC. Amid this West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made a sensational announcement. She said that she would transfer the case to the CBI if the Police failed to solve the case.

The Chief Minister said that the Police would solve the case by Sunday and if the Police failed to do so then it would be transferred to the CBI. She said that the Police department in the state is the best and it can get the job done.

Having said that, the Chief Minister said the case would be handed over to the CBI. On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee reportedly took a dig at the Central agency CBI over its less success rate and said that despite this she would hand over the case.

Earlier last week, a 31-year-old doctor was found in a semi-naked stage. Layer the body was sent for tests and the reports said she was sexually assaulted before the murder due to bleeding.

The Federation of Resident Doctors Association said that selective services would be stopped on August 12 across the nation. Delhi AIIMS also supported the call and announced the suspension of a few services.
