Fact Check: Did a Man Hang Under a Train for 250 Km?

A viral video which shown that a man traveled 250 kilometers by sitting on the axle of a train wheel. This video showed the man allegedly hiding on the Pune-Danapur Express train. According to reports the train traveled from Itarsi to Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. Railway employees discovered the man under the S-4 coach of the train during a routine check.
Officials spotted him when the train reached the outskirts of Jabalpur station. The man was lying between the wheels under the coach. Concerned about his safety railway staff informed the train driver using wireless communication. The train was stopped immediately. Staff rushed to rescue the man.
When questioned the man revealed he had no money for a ticket. He admitted he resorted to this risky method to reach his destination. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) stated the man seemed mentally unstable. Officials suspect he may be suffering from mental health issues. But huis identity remains unknown.
The government responded to the viral video through its Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check Unit. The PIB clarified that the video’s claims were false and misleading. They explained that train wheels rotate continuously. It makes impossible for anyone to sit on them while traveling.
The PIB shared a statement on social media debunking the video. They said, "This claim is baseless and misleading. Train wheels keep rotating. So traveling like this is not possible."
