Microsoft is one of the biggest technological companies in the world, and they have also been one of the major exponents of the H1B work permit and permanent green card in the United States.

However, things have not been going smoothly for the mega company in the recent past as the Donald Trump administration has imposed a band on them with regard to green card processing.

The latest updates are suggesting that the term administration has not just banned Microsoft, but other companies like TCS, HCL, Infosys and others with regard to the Green card restrictions.

Now Microsoft has issued a public communication to this effect, and this happens to be their first reaction after the recent decision from the administration.

We look forward to providing the Administration with additional information. For example, of the approximately 6,000 H-1B visa applications we submitted in the last fiscal year, 80% percent were to extend or change the status of existing Microsoft employees. These were not to hire new people, Microsoft communicated as they corrected the measure put forth by Trump.

The remaining filings for new employees were for individuals already legally in the United States who decided to come work for us, and they equal only 1% of our U.S. workforce. They are not new arrivals to our country.

Microsoft only files H-1B petitions for those who meet the rigorous standards of this visa category. We pay our employees some of the highest compensation in the tech sector, and our wages are among the highest of all H-1B filings.

We pay our H-1B employees the same as any other employees doing comparable work, the communication further added. It is safe to say that Microsoft did not hold back with regard to the response on the Trump administration, imposing a ban on their green card processing capabilities.
