He has been working hard to give Electric vehicles a big push in the country. Now the Minister revealed key details on a big project.

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari spoke to a popular National media outlet and said that an airplane-like bus would hit the roads soon. Saying that pollution is a big issue the Minister said the new bus would run on non-polluting energy and is cheaper.

The veteran BJP leader said that the new bus will have a seating capacity of 132 and come with airplane-like seating. Not just that there will also be a hostess.

Talking about pollution the Minister said that it costs Rs 120 per liter of petrol but ethanol costs just Rs 60. The bus runs on electricity and ethanol. The cost of travel comes down and the pollution is also reduced.

Adding further he said that as a pilot project, the bus will start in Nagpur in association with Tata. The bus comes with AC, comfortable chairs, and space to keep the laptops. Like in airplanes, hostesses would give food and fruits in the middle of travel.

Drawing a comparison between Diesel and other sources the Minister said it costs Rs 115 per km to run a Diesel bus while the AC Electric buses take only Rs 41 per Km. Having said that the Minister observed the government wants to bring down the public transport cost and also bring down the ticket fares.

Once the new bus hits the road then it would add another feather to the transportation sector and this might help people move to sustainable energy from Diesel and petrol.
