The Australian team which is dubbed as a dreaded side showed its dominance yet again and added another World Cup trophy to its name. In yesterday’s match, Australia crushed hosts India. The Australian team and fans jumped into celebrations as the Pat Cummins-led team lifted the trophy.
However, what Australian player Mitchell Marsh did was not pleasing to the fans as he placed his legs on top of the trophy. He placed the legs on the trophy and posed for a picture. He gave a winning pose in the picture.
Indian fans who are already sad that India could not be the World Champions are not at all happy with what he did. Taking to social media Indian fans expressed their satisfaction with what he did. They say that the World Cup trophy is not something to place their legs on.
Fans say that the World Cup is a trophy that needs to be respected and players should also know how to respect the trophy and winning the trophy is of no use if they cannot respect it. Some fans want action from the ICC for this as well.
However, a few people also supported Mitchell Marsh in this row and said that Australia is the World Champion and they can celebrate the win in any manner they want to and Mitchell Marsh did the same.
This is the sixth title Australia won in the history of the World Cup. When India was announced as the hosts everyone said that India would lift the trophy given the advantage it has. But Australia was ahead of us and lifted the trophy by defeating us in the finals played at Ahmedabad.
