Recently he took oath as the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi is in Austria and the trip is dubbed historic for a reason. This is the first time an Indian PM visited Austria in decades. The last time a PM visited Austria was in 1983 when Indira Gandhi went there.
There is another significance and the diplomatic relationship between the two countries completed 75 years. On this occasion, the Prime Minister is on a one-day visit. Narendra Modi received a grand welcome.
Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg welcomed Narendra Modi when he reached the airport and later Modi met Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer. The duo exchanged greetings and the Chancellor clicked selfies with Modi. The Prime Minister was impressed with the arrangements the Chancellor made.
Heartwarming scenes unfolded at Austria’s capital Vienna as Vande Mataram was played. A group of artists performed in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Indian diaspora gave him a grand welcome as they were thrilled to see him.
The reason behind Narendra Modi’s historic visit to Austria is said to take forward the long-standing ties between the countries. The Prime Minister is slated to meet the industrialists and Indian-origin people in Austria and all eyes are on the gathering to know the outcome.
