Modi’s Historic Ukraine Visit: What the US Has To Say?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited war-hit Ukraine. After visiting Poland he reached Ukraine on a train covering a few hours' journey. Modi’s visit can be seen as a historic one as an Indian Prime Minister visiting Ukraine came after a long time. He received a warm welcome there.

White House reacted to Narendra Modi’s Ukraine visit and said that the visit would be potentially helpful in setting things right. White House said that the visit might initiate the peace talks between the two nations.

It is known that the US and other countries tried to put pressure on Russia to stop the war against Ukraine. The issue was taken to the UN too. A voting was also held. However, India took a neutral stand on this.

Not only that, the West also found fault with India purchasing oil from Russia despite sanctions. Earlier Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Russia and the visit led to criticism.

As Narendra Modi announced his visit to Ukraine many felt that this would be a big step in restoring things in the war-hit nation. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier pinned high hopes on the meeting and said that India can stop Putin with its influence.

Narendra Modi also said that India is always on the side of peace. Saying that India is a land of Buddha where there is no place for war, the Prime Minister said that India is ready to bring peace between both countries.

In the initial days of war, Ukraine just fought the Russian forces and saved its territory. But Ukraine has changed its nature and it is aggressively fighting back. Amid this Narendra Modi visited Ukraine.
