Now there is a new problem that is coming up in New York and it has something to do with a medical outbreaking and this time around, it is the measles problem that is shaking the entire city.
The problem is so very prevalent that the governor of New York has installed a new state of emergency to deal with the ongoing situation currently.
New York governor Kathy Hochul declared a State Disaster Emergency in response to the ongoing measles outbreak. New York had recorded 108 measles cases as of October 3, including 7 in New York City. The emergency declaration is intended to speed up the state’s testing, vaccination, and outbreak response.
Hochul's order lets paramedics, midwives and pharmacists give MMR shots, and pharmacists can now vaccinate kids as young as 2, after 108 New Yorkers caught measles this year, most of them in rural counties along the Pennsylvania line.
The point to be noted here is that the United States of America had cleared the entire country off Measles back in 2000 itself. But now there is a significant outbreak with the country observing more than 3800 cases till now.
On a related note, the United States is also monitoring the situation in Russia where there is a deadly pneumonic plaque outbreak which has resulted in extreme quarantines and medical conditions.
