The election episode is creating interest in Andhra Pradesh too.

In a dramatic turn of events, the stage is set for the election of Deputy Speaker in the Lok Sabha. Usually, the Speaker is elected unanimously. But the opposition wants to change this status quo and go for elections. The election will be held today to elect the Speaker. The election episode is creating interest in Andhra Pradesh too.

What YCP will do now is the question many have. When the party was in power, it supported the BJP unconditionally whenever a bill was tabled in the house. Despite not being in NDA YCP supported it on many occasions. But things have changed now that YCP is in opposition.

With this, a big debate started on what YCP would do in the elections. It is said that there is no change in YCP’s stand on BJP even in opposition. Reports are abuzz that YCP would vote for Om Birla. Though there is no official announcement from YCP the same is expected to happen.

The political observers say that YCP has been maintaining good ties with the NDA for a few years and it doesn't want to change this. To keep the ties intact the YCP might support Om Birla in the elections so that it can remain in the good books of the BJP which is in power at the Centre

We might get clarity on this soon as the election is slated to happen this morning. With this, the YCP’s stand on the issue would be cleared. Let us wait and see.

While BJP stuck to Om Birla who served as the Speaker in the last term, Congress fielded K Suresh as the candidate. The INDIA alliance is saying that Suresh won eight times as the MP and hence he should be the speaker. So the elections are inevitable and anything can happen.
