Women’s Commission Reacts Strongly to KD Song Controversy

A new controversy has come up around the song “Sarke Chunari Teri Sarke” from the upcoming movie KD: The Devil. The issue has become serious, and the National Commission for Women has taken action against the film’s team.
The Commission recently sent notices to actress Nora Fatehi and actor Sanjay Dutt, asking them to attend an inquiry related to the song. The song’s lyrics were found to be objectionable and disrespectful towards women.
On April 6, instead of Nora Fatehi appearing personally, her lawyer attended the hearing. This made the Commission unhappy. They clearly said that sending a lawyer is not acceptable in such matters. The officials asked Nora to appear in person and gave her time until April 27 to attend the inquiry.
At the same time, Sanjay Dutt has been asked to attend the hearing on April 8 without fail. The Commission wants both actors to explain their involvement in the song.
Earlier, the film’s writer Rakeeb Alam, director Prem, and producers had already submitted written apologies to the Commission. They also informed that the controversial song has been removed from YouTube.
The Chairperson of the Commission, Vijaya Rahatkar, said that the lyrics are not only inappropriate but also insulting to women. She strongly warned the team that saying “we did not understand the meaning” is not a valid excuse. According to her, creators must be responsible for the content they produce.
Director Prem responded to the issue by saying that the song was made only for entertainment and there was no intention to hurt anyone. However, the Commission made it clear that such explanations are not enough when the content affects society negatively.
The movie stars Dhruva Sarja in the lead role, with Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt playing important roles. Despite the controversy, the film is scheduled for release on April 30.
