However many have the doubt of whether the medals are made up of real metals like Gold or Silver. But experts say that the metals are not made up of pure metals and multiple metals are used.
Gold or Silver medals are not made up of pure metals and a few metals are mixed in this. However, 6 grams of gold is used in making the medals which is used for the plating. 92.5 percent of Silver is also used. The remaining percent is filled with copper.
Talking about the weight of the medals, the Gold and Silver medals weigh 412 grams while the bronze medal weighs 357 grams. Multiple metals are used to prepare the medals which are given to the athletes.
If we talk about the medals that are given for the Paris Olympics it is made up of 92.5% silver, 6.16 percent copper, and 1.34% gold. So the Gold medal is not totally gold as Gold is plated on the medals.
Recently an athlete created a big sensation by expressing dissatisfaction over the quality of the medal as the color faded away. Taking to social media he made the comments.
