Kalyan announced a compensation of ₹5 lakh each, totaling ₹90 lakh, has been provided to the families of 18 fishermen from Kakinada district who tragically lost their lives while fishing at sea.
To protect the Uppada coastline and safeguard people from sea erosion, a retaining wall will be constructed at a cost of ₹323 crore with the cooperation of the Central Government. Structural defects were found in the design of the Uppada Fishing Harbour due to negligence. L
Scientists from CICEF inspected the site last month and confirmed frequent boat damages. The redesign work will soon begin with APSDMA’s support at an estimated cost of ₹98 crore, Kalyan stated.
Based on the issues raised during the “Maata–Mantri” interaction, a concrete 100-day action plan will be prepared and implemented with public consent. The PCB has been directed to conduct a pollution audit along the coast and submit a report within a week. I will personally inspect the affected areas in the next few days, it was further added by Kalyan.
With his public centric approach at this event, Kalyan absolutely scored the brownie points and he got the whole episode on point not just as a local Pithapuram MLA but also as Deputy CM.
