The Congress Party is now said to be seeing a window of opportunity in Andhra Pradesh, the state that rejected it and sent it packing lock stock and barrel. The party biggies in Delhi feel that the Congress can revive itself by luring the Christian and Muslim minorities to its side. Accordingly, the Congress is planning to deploy Priyanka Gandhi for the purpose.

After the division of the state, the people of Andhra Pradesh have completely rejected the Congress. The party now is in shambles and even its president Gidugu RudraRaju is unable to complete his state tour. Seniors like Sake Sailaja Nath and Raghuveera Reddy have become completely inactive. Influential leaders like Kiran Kumar Reddy have left the party.

But, ahead of the 2019 elections, the Congress wants to reinvent itself. It wants to project itself as a savior of the minorities. There is deep sense of anger among both the Christians and the Muslims over the NDA policies. The Christians who form a sizeable chunk of population in the coastal districts, they are unhappy about the happening in Manipur. Muslims too play a key role in Rayalaseema districts.

These sections feel that both YSRCP, TDP and Jana Sena are toeing the BJP line. As a result, there is no saviour for these communities. This feeling will draw them towards the Congress, feel party strategists. Hence, the central leadership is said to be planning to reach out to these sections. The party also feels that several YSRCP leaders, who may not be given the party tickets, might flock to the Congress. If Congress sources are to be believed, the party will send Priyanka Gandhi to breathe a new life into the party.
