Purandeswari Chinnamma To BJP, Peddamma To TDP?

She is the third daughter of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Family members fondly call her Chinnamma. She stayed away from politics when her father was the Chief Minister. She did not take the political path even when her husband was politically active. She joined the Congress in 2004 and won two times as MP and served as the Union Minister. We are talking about Daggubati Purandeswari here.

When the Congress collapsed in AP, she joined the BJP without a second thought. She pinned hopes on Rajya Sabha member or Union Minister posts. But in vain. To prove herself before the 2024 polls, she was given the key position of AP BJP chief.

How aggressively Chinnamma should be in the key post. It's been four months since she took over the post. While no one knows what the party can achieve under her leadership, there are allegations that she is supporting the TDP. There is no place for relations in politics.

Affection is different and party responsibility is different. She is unable to strike a balance between the two. A debate was also started about whether she is using the BJP Chief post for the TDP. During the commemorative NTR coin unveiling ceremony, she brought BJP National chief JP Nadda and TDP chief Chandrababu, who is her brother-in-law.

Now there are strong allegations that she used all her influence in the BJP to help Lokesh get the appointment of Amit Shah. The picture of Nara Lokesh meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday came out and we can see Daggubati Purandeswari as well in the picture.

She is the aunt of Nara Lokesh. She might be feeling bad for her sister Bhuvaneshwari’s husband Chandrababu Naidu who has been in prison for one month. He happens to be her brother-in-law. But there is no political relation between TDP and BJP in AP as of now. But a debate is going on whether the two parties became one due to the relationship.

There is a debate on one side that Purandeswari is interested in the alliance with TDP for the next elections. She became more active with Chandrababu’s arrest. She condemned the arrest straightaway. Many say that she cannot come out of the kinship despite knowing the idealogy of the BJP that it won't support the corrupt.

It is said that with the same thinking, she might have helped her sister’s son meer Amit Shah. There is also a debate on whether she is acting as Chinnamma to the BJP and Peddamma to TDP.

Purandeswari’s tweet after meeting Amit Shah also gave birth to a new discussion. She has been saying that Chandrababu was arrested with a political vendetta. However, many say that she could not explain how the courts are giving the remand. Is she working for the TDP benefits staying in BJP, many wonder.

On the other hand, the bigwigs in the BJP appointed Purandeswari as the AP chief to grow alone. Did she fail to understand this, many ask? If the BJP wants an alliance with TDP then why the big post to Chinnamma, it can be given to anyone and the party can get a few seats.

There are allegations that, when Daggubati Purandeswari was made the state chief hoping that she could bring a strong community close to the party, she preferred the kinship. The strong BJP leaders in the AP do not like this reportedly.

Many say that instead of grabbing the opportunity where the TDP became weak, the efforts made by Purandeswari for the TDP might harm the party. In the coming days, the central BJP might assess Chinnamma’s working style.
