DRDO Scientist, Father Of Agni Is No More!
He played a pivotal role in the long-range ballistic missile program and mainly the Agni missiles at DRDO.
Renowned Defence Research & Development Organisation(DRDO) Scientist Dr. Ram Narain Agarwal who is also known as the 'Father of Agni Missiles' is no more. The scientist breathed his last at 85. He made many valuable contributions during his stint at the DRDO.
He played a pivotal role in the long-range ballistic missile program and mainly the Agni missiles at DRDO. His contribution was such that he is called the Father Of Agni Missiles.
For the contributions he made in his field, he was honored with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. The Scientist served as the first Director of the Agni missiles Program.
DRDO took to social media to share the sad news of his demise. The DRDO said that with profound sorrow, they are offering condolences for the demise of the Scientist.
His career spanned around 22 years and he worked under great scientists like Dr Arunachalam and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. During his stint with the DRDO, he played a crucial role in re-entry technology, all composite heat shield, onboard propulsion system, guidance and control etc for missiles.
“With profound grief and sorrow, DRDO offers the condolence on the sad demise of Dr Ram Narain Agarwal outstanding aerospace scientist and Padma Shree, Padma Bhushan awardee, who was instrumental in the development of India’s long range missile, Agni. May his soul rest in peace,” DRDO post reads.
