The discussion now is about an individual named Rashik Chandra Mondal, who was arrested for a murder case earlier and had spent nearly 30 years in jail.
This individual was initially taken into legal custody for a murder case that happened in 1988, and the official order was issued in 1994 regarding his permanent.
However, he has managed to successfully live through this jail period and is currently 105 years old, which is an extremely long time for an individual who has been locked up in the prison.
Born in 1920 in West Bengal's Malda district, Mondal was convicted in 1994 at the age of 68 in the murder case and was in jail till November 29, 2024, when the top court granted him bail.
Subsequently, the court has decided to grant him on permanent basis. This decision has been taken based on the medical parameters, and also the age factor of this elderly individual.
The legal proceedings, including the murder charges have been permanently dropped against him, and he can be regarded as a free citizen from now on.
