The expected is happening. For the past six months we are seeing indications that the power change might happen in Britain. The results are making the reports true. The general elections concluded on Thursday night and the results are being declared. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s Conservative Party is on the verge of a big defeat. The Conservative Party which has been ruling for 14 years would taste a big defeat while the Labour Party which has been eagerly waiting for power would come to power.

Almost every exit poll survey predicted the same. The polls predicted that the Labour Party would win 410 seats while the Conservative Party would be restricted to just 131 seats. The magic figure to form the government in the UK is 326. The elections which are seen as a deciding factor in Rishi Sunak’s political future has Keir Starmer as the PM candidate from the Labour Party. Starmer thanked the activists and voters for trusting the party.

Elections were held in 650 seats including England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and others. A party should win 326 seats to form the government. Besides the major parties Conservative and Labour parties there are others like Liberal Democrats, Green Party, Scottish National Party, SDLP, Democratic Unionist Party, Workers Party, Anti Immigration Reform Party, and others. A few independent candidates are also in the race.

As per the local time, the elections started at 7 AM on Thursday and lasted till 10 PM. Compared to 2019 the vote percentage is less this time. In the last elections, the voting turnout was 67 and the recent election recorded less percentage. The voting started right after the polling concluded. By 8:15 AM in Indian Time, the Labour Party already won 151 seats and other candidates were leading in other seats. However, Rishi Sunak’s Labour Party won just 23 seats. Looking at the trend it appears that the Labour Party would win 400 plus seats as predicted by the surveys. Conservative party might get fewer seats than the predicted number. The Labour Party might win the 326 seats easily.
