In the thrilling match, India held its nerves and lifted the Trophy. Rohit retired from the T20 format. The captain returned to the squad for the Sri Lanka 50-over series.

In the first ODI match, Rohit Sharma scored a half-century and equalled the record of Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin had the record of having as many as 58 half-centuries as the opener in the 50-over format. Rohit Sharma equalled the record with another half-century.

Rohit Sharma’s career can be seen as before and after becoming the opener. There is no looking back for him after opening the innings for the team. He is now among the modern-day greats across the platforms.

It was a big day for Rohit Sharma as he added a few records to his name. He achieved the 15000 run milestone as the opener. He is the second batsman to do so. Before him Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar achieved this and Rohit Sharma stands beside the great.

His half-century includes 7 fours and 3 maximums. With this, he emerged as the Skipper with the most number of sixes and broke the record held by Eoin Morgan who had 233 sixes in 180 matches. Rohit Sharma now has 234 sixes in just 134 innings.

Another record Rohit Sharma added to his name was becoming the fifth Indian player with the highest fours. He now has 1001 fours to his name, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, and Sourav Ganguly are in the top four positions on the elite list.
