Sachin Tendulkar(6), Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara(5), Ricky Ponting, and David Warner are in the next spots. Sachin Tendulkar held the record for many years and Rohit Sharma surpassed it.
Another record Rohit made was the fastest century by an Indian in ICC World Cup. He took 63 deliveries for this while Kapil Dev's century in 72 balls was the previous fastest. Rohit Sharma's massive sixes also made him the player with the most sixes in international cricket with 556 maximums.
Rohit Sharma's innings proved why he is called Hit Man as he broke multiple records. Besides the highest number of ICC World Cup tons, Rohit now stands at third place in terms of highest centuries in the 50-over format with 31 centuries.
The Indian skipper holds the record for the highest number of runs in an innings by an Indian player in the World Cup with his 131 score. Rohit scored three tons while chasing which is the most in the World Cup.
This is very good news for the Indian fans and India will lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan on the 14th of this month. The last time India and Pak met in the 50-over format, Rohit smashed the Pak bowlers out of the park and scored 140 runs. Fans are hoping to see a similar performance.
