After the change in power, the decisions taken by the previous YCP are getting a wide range of attention. What the YCP did with Rushikonda Palace turned out to be a big sensation. There is an intense war of words on the Palace and people say that the YCP leaders' reaction to the issue added fuel to the row.
The Rushikonda palace issue goes national with a popular national media house holding a big discussion on this. As the palace is said to have been built with over Rs 500 cr budget it is grabbing everyone’s attention and looks like national media is no different from this.
It is known that YCP wanted to make Vizag the executive capital of the state. A few buildings were constructed and earlier there was a talk that others were not allowed to visit the place including opposition leaders. The alleged illegal constructions reached the High Court too.
With the change in power, things are changing slowly. On the day of the results, we saw TDP supporters waving party flags at Rushikonda. Days after the results, the Palace came to light.
Republic TV held a debate on the Palace from the angle of whether the public money was misused. While a national TV debate on the issue is a sensation itself the way the topic was discussed is another thing.
The host gave his thoughts on the palace and its lavish nature and said that massive spending was done on it. Not stopping there the host went on to equate the Palace to that of Saddam Hussein’s and said the Rushikonda palace appears grandeur than the Buckingham Palace in England.
There is an opinion that YCP wanted to move to Vizag to run the government in the next term and the buildings were constructed for the same. But things didn't go well in its favour and YCP slipped to just 11 seats from 151 seats. Who knows things would have been different had YCP won the elections.
