Now there are a series of shocking updates to this effect as the Russian authorities have started to implement quarantines and mandate masks in public places.
There are now reports from Shelekhov in Siberia about men walking in the city in hazmat suits. Essentially means that people are walking around with full body suits to protect themselves from the outbreak that is currently happening.
This is in addition to the news that the hospital is quarantined and the pharmacies in the city of ran out of antibiotics. This is not officially confirmed by Russia as they are still commenting that the reason for the death of the earlier individual has not been established yet.
The 28-year-old laboratory technician Darya Shipilova died on Friday at hospital in the city after accidentally breaking a test sample with Yersinia pestis at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute and contracting pneumonic plague.
People are now sceptical about the possibility of the return of the lockdown aspect as we are already seeing cases of quarantine and also full body suits on the streets.
For now, there is no official word on this matter, but several countries across the globe have been considering the idea of imposing travel ban on Russia. The United States is also continuing to monitor the situation and asking for clear data from the Russian authorities.
