The current superstars in the game are inspired by the legendary player and this speaks volumes about the legacy he left. His popularity is still intact despite stepping down.

As an example of his unmatched popularity, the global cricket governing body International Cricket Council put a big responsibility on his shoulders. It is known that the much-awaited World Cup tournament will kickstart tomorrow and cricket fans across the globe are eagerly waiting for the tournament.

The ICC has named legendary player Sachin Tendulkar as the 'Global Ambassador' for the 2023 edition of the World Cup. The global cricket governing body announced the same in a press release and the ICC website. While announcing the appointment, the ICC spoke highly about the veteran player.

The ICC said that it is a big honour to have someone like Sachin as the Global Ambassador for the biggest World Cup event and he will bring fans close to the action along with the other legendary players.

"It's a real honour to have Sachin as our Global Ambassador as we celebrate the one-day game and get set for what we know is going to be the biggest Men's Cricket World Cup ever. He is joined by nine fellow legends of the game who will bring the fans closer to the action and we can't wait for it all to begin," ICC General Manager Claire Furlong said.

Sachin Tendulkar is dubbed as one of the finest players in the world cricket. His career spanned over two long decades and he set up many records that seem unbreakable. He is the highest run-getter. He made a promising debut at the tender age of 16 and went on to earn fans across the globe.

He scored over 30,000 international runs and has 100 centuries. Sachin Tendulkar represented India in six World Cup events. His dream of winning the World Cup was fulfilled in the 2011 edition when India lifted the trophy after 28 years.
