Big Development Occurs In Same-sex Marriages Row!

If we make a list of sensitive topics in the country then same-sex marriage will be on the top list for sure. For the past few weeks, we have been hearing a lot about the topic. Activists are waging a legal battle to get legal recognition for same-sex marriages.

Now the issue is in the news as a review petition was filed with the Supreme Court on the issue. The Apex Court was moved with a petition against the verdict given by the court on the issue earlier last month.

One of the petitioners Udit Sood who earlier moved the Supreme Court had filed the review petition with the registry. Now all eyes are on the Court to see what decision it would take.

If the review petition is accepted, then there is a chance for a larger bench than the previous bench to hear the petition. If this happens then the petitioners might get a positive outcome in the issue. Let us wait and see what happens next.

The review petition was filed against the verdict given by the Five-judge bench of the Supreme Court last month on the topic of the legal status of same-sex marriage. The verdict was given by 3:2 ratio.

The Chief Justice Of India Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud led bench refused to give legal status to the marriages. While giving the verdict, the bench said that it cannot entertain the plea and it’s the job of the Parliament to frame the laws on marriages.

On the occasion, the Supreme Court also issued directives to the Centre to look into the issue and frame laws if required. Earlier, the Centre told its stand to the Supreme Court on the issue and said that the legal status cannot be given. In an affidavit, Centre opposed the proposal.
