It is an established fact that a large section of the Hyderabad state population travels to their home towns and villages in Andhra Pradesh during the Sankranti period. The same trend is being observed again this year, and we have a lot of traffic outflow regarding the same.

The Sankranti travel rush has started on the Hyderabad to Vijayawada National Highway as holidays for schools and colleges begin from Saturday.

A large number of families are traveling to their native places to celebrate the festival, leading to a steady increase in traffic on this busy road. From early morning, long queues of vehicles have been seen at several points, especially near towns and toll plazas.

To manage the situation, police have stepped up traffic control measures in sensitive areas like Choutuppal. As part of this plan, the Narayanapuram Road has been temporarily closed to reduce congestion and avoid traffic jams.

At Panthangi toll plaza, all ten tollbooths towards Vijayawada have been opened to allow vehicles to pass quickly. Officials said that the use of FASTag has also helped in reducing waiting time at toll gates and keeping traffic moving smoothly.

However, authorities have warned that traffic is likely to remain heavy throughout the weekend as more people are expected to start their journeys. Travelers have been advised to plan their trips carefully, start early if possible, follow traffic rules, and cooperate with police personnel on duty. Patience and caution are strongly recommended to ensure a safe and smooth journey during the festive rush.
