Saveera Parkash: Pakistani-Hindu In Pak Election Race!
Now a woman from the community is raising many eyeballs as she is contesting the upcoming general elections.
A day before our Independence, Indian territory was divided into two parts. While half part became Pakistan, the remaining part is our land. There are a lot of differences between the two nations in many aspects. Be it development, financial stability, and technology there is no match.
Even the way the minorities are treated has also a big difference. Very often we hear stories about attacks on Minorities in Pakistan. Hindus are the minorities there and they are facing issues as per a few media reports. Over the decades their population has been coming down.
Now a woman from the community is raising many eyeballs as she is contesting the upcoming general elections. She filed her nomination for the elections in the Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Pakistani-Hindu Dr. Saveera Parkash scripted history as the first Hindu woman to face the elections in Pakistan.
She comes from a doctor's family. Her father is a retired doctor who has the image of treating poor people for free. Her father Oam Parkash has been a part of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) for over three decades. Now his daughter is also a part of the party and is all set to face the elections.
The Country's Election Commission's decision created a space for her to face the elections. The election body said that women candidates should be given at least 5 percent representation in the general seats. This in turn helped her to get a chance. The party is yet to announce her name as the candidate officially.
As per the schedule, the general elections in Pakistan are scheduled to take place on the 8th of February. The political heat had increased there already and now the Hindu woman joined the row.
Talking about the Hindu leaders in Pakistan, Mahesh Kumar Malani became a Member of the Assembly in 2018. He became the first non-Muslim to win a general seat. Now all eyes are on Dr Saveera Parkash to see what she can do.
