It is already known that several Indian cricketers have been facing peculiar situations with regard to marriages and subsequent divorces. Now we have the case of former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, who is reportedly receiving a very favourable judgement from the Supreme Court.

In a big relief to Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, a Family Court in Delhi has ordered his former wife to return around Rs 5.72 crore to him. The court gave this decision after examining earlier orders passed by a Family Court in Australia.

Earlier, the Australian court had directed Dhawan to pay the amount to his estranged wife under the concept of “property settlement.” This concept is commonly used in Australian family law, where financial matters between a couple are settled after separation or divorce. Based on that order, Dhawan had paid the amount.

However, the Delhi Family Court observed that the idea of property settlement, as applied in the Australian ruling, does not exist in the same way under Indian law. The court said that such a concept is not recognized in Indian matrimonial laws in the manner it was enforced abroad.

After carefully reviewing the case, the Delhi court concluded that the payment made under the Australian order was not legally valid in India. Therefore, it directed that approximately Rs 5.72 crore be returned to Dhawan.

This decision marks an important development in the ongoing legal dispute between Dhawan and his former wife and brings significant financial relief to the cricketer.
