All set for intense elections in Andhra Pradesh. In a few days, the poll-bound state will face the elections. The buzz and sensation around the elections are high this time. So far the narrative is such that the main fight in the elections would be between the ruling YSRCP and the alliance.
However, the Anantapur politics are surprising everyone as an unexpected fight is likely to take place. Congress might put up a strong fight in the Singanamala Assembly seat and if everything falls in place then the Congress party might one its account in divided Andhra Pradesh with the seat.
Former APCC Chief Sake Sailajanath is contesting from the Singanamala seat and his image might do wonders for him. He won twice from the seat in the combined state and he has been with the Congress over the years. His image is a good advantage for him.
The Congress party was in power in the combined state and had a vote bank. Due to bifurcation, the vote bank split and was directed to other parties. But things have changed now and YS Sharmila is the APCC Chief. Everyone knows the hard work she has been putting in as the state chief.
The Congress party could not put up a strong fight in two elections after the state was bifurcated. But things have changed now and it might win the Singanamala seat as per the estimations. The biggest advantage Sake Sailajanath has here is that his opponents are new faces and they reportedly have no support from other leaders.
This is not the case with Sake Sailajanath. He is a known face to the locals and has a good image. YS Sharmila’s image is an added advantage for him. He is simply following a good strategy.
Like how the Congress party is talking about the state interests and promising the same, Sake Sailajanath is also talking about the local issues. He is busy with door-to-door campaigning and is urging the voters to vote for him and in return, he is promising good facilities in the Assembly seat like road and water.
The ground report is that Sake Sailajanath is getting support from various corners and people across the parties are supporting him. Looking at this, a narrative is built that the former APCC Chief might enter the Assembly House and become the first Congress MLA in the divided state.
After the state formation, many leaders left the party and Sake Sailajanath stayed with the party no matter what. This factor might help him in the elections. If the Congress vote bank can turn in favor of him, then nothing can stop him.
