Global Social Media Family Gets Bigger With 5.05 Billion Users!

Social media has become a part of our lives and no one can deny this. It has become an addiction to many that they cannot restrict themselves from scrolling the apps. While some users scroll social media to consume the content some scroll the apps out of addiction.

Earlier only teenagers used to have the addiction. But now irrespective of age groups people are becoming addicted to social media which is concerning. The availability of the internet and the rise in users can be dubbed as the reasons for this.

Now an interesting thing has come out on social media users. Now there are around 504 crore social media users in the world. This translates to over 62 percent of the global population. Compared to last year, more than 26 crore new users were recorded.

62.30 percent of the total global population are social media users now as per the data gathered by the Global Web Index Survey. The survey also found that out of all the users, 53.50 users are men while 46.50 percent are women.

As of January this year, there are 5.04 billion social media users in the world. This translates to 62.3 percent of the world's population. On the other hand, the number of social media users is increasing at a bigger rate.

The data says that social media users are increasing in the world at a faster rate as 266 million new users have been added. In just 12 months the number was added which says that there is a growth of 5.6 percent while 8.4 users coming every second.
