World Cup Semi Final: South Africa In All Sorts Of Trouble!

The stage is set for the second semi-final of the World Cup. Australia and South Africa, which is defeating the opponents by a huge margin, are locking horns in the second knockout. The winner of today’s match will face India in the finals and the winners will lift the World Cup trophy.

The South African team has the image of choking in crucial matches. This is the reason why the team won only one ICC trophy which came long back in 1998. The Proteas team won the ICC Champions Trophy in 1998 by defeating the West Indies team. Since then the team has been searching for the trophy.

Living up to the image South Africa went hands up in the semis. The team is in deep trouble as it lost seven wickets for just 174 runs. After 44 overs the team managed to score this run. With this, we can imagine the trouble the team is having.

Australia drew first blood by sending Temba Bavuma and Quinton de Kock early. South Africa lost two wickets for just eight runs. Things would have been worse for the team if not for the fighting knock of David Miller who is 88 not out.

When the team lost six early wickets, David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen tried to settle things. But Australia all-rounder Travis Head spoiled the South African team's plans by taking two back-to-back wickets.

Looking at the condition of the South African team it is very hard to score even 250 runs. Given the strong batting lineup of Australia, it will be a cakewalk for the Kangaroo team. It needs a next-to-impossible performance from the South African bowling attack to win the match.

South Africa reached the semis with memorable wins against the opponents. But in the match which matters the most, the team could not hold its nerves.
