Municipal elections in Telangana are set to take place on February 11, with counting of votes scheduled for February 13. The State Election Commission has completed all arrangements for polling across urban local bodies in the state.

A total of 123 urban local bodies will go to polls, which include 116 municipalities and 7 municipal corporations. The elections will cover 2,996 wards spread across these ULBs. To ensure smooth voting, the commission has set up 8,203 polling stations and arranged 16,031 ballot boxes.

The total voter strength stands at 52.43 lakh. Of this, 25.62 lakh are men voters, while women voters form the majority with 26.80 lakh. There are also 640 voters registered under the others category. Officials have highlighted the importance of high voter turnout, especially in urban areas where participation has been uneven in the past.

Ward reservations have been allocated as per constitutional guidelines. Out of the total wards, 1,511 are unreserved. Backward Classes have been allotted 854 wards, Scheduled Castes 444 wards, and Scheduled Tribes 187 wards.

Security arrangements, polling staff deployment, and voter awareness measures are being strengthened to ensure free and fair elections. The results on February 13 are expected to shape the urban political landscape of Telangana in the coming years.
