Free Bus Ride Impact: Men To Get Special Buses, Seats?

After new means of transport like Metros and bike rentals, the usage of RTC buses had reduced. As Metro offers quick rides with AC facilities people started preferring and not facing traffic issues is one of the major advantages of Metro. With the rise in Metro services, the rush in RTC buses was reduced.

But the situation had changed now, thanks to the Congress party. Free bus rides for women like in Karnataka was promised by Congress and this is being implemented in Telangana after the change in government.

While women are happy with the promise as they can enjoy the bus rides for free, the election promise is showing a big impact in other ways. We are seeing a big rush in the buses. The RTC MD urged women to use ordinary buses for short distances.

With the massive increase in the rush in the buses, the RTC is said to be thinking of allocating special buses for men and we might also see special seats for them in the buses.

In the wake of the big rush, there was a big demand for special buses which should be allocated for men as it was they who buy tickets while women were offered free rides. Besides special buses for men on a few routes, RTC is also said to be looking at allocating a few seats for senior citizens (men).

Earlier we saw special buses for women and seats getting allocated for women. But things have changed now and we might see special buses for men. No one would have predicted that such scenes would take place and we would get to see them.

On the other hand, the free bus rides offered to women in RTC buses are impacting the business of auto drivers and cabs. We saw a few organisations calling for a protest seeking alternatives. The Chief Minister chaired a key meeting with them and said their issues would be looked into.
