It is unknown fact that the Indian community that has been residing in the United States greatly desires, the green card option. This would grant permanent residency in the United States, and that is the reason why it comments a lot of interest and attention from the Indian community.

However, after the onset of Donald Trump administration, things are not looking very promising for green card aspirants and the newly proposed EB-5 regulations are in tune with the same.

The May 2025 U.S. Visa Bulletin brings a major setback for Indian applicants under the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. The Final Action Date for India in the EB-5 Unreserved category has retrogressed by over six months to May 1, 2019, meaning only applicants with priority dates before this can move forward.

This change significantly delays green card processing for Indian investors. The delay is largely due to high demand from India, global surge in EB-5 applications, and the U.S. per-country cap that limits green cards to 7% per nation annually. As a result, Indian applicants face several more years of wait time.

Experts are calling for immigration reforms to address these growing backlogs. Meanwhile, stakeholders are advised to closely monitor monthly visa bulletins and consult immigration professionals for guidance. This retrogression reflects increasing uncertainty in the U.S. investor visa landscape for Indian nationals.
