Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, was appointed Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on September 28, 2024, as part of a significant cabinet reshuffle. This elevation comes as Udhayanidhi continues strengthening his influence within the DMK and the state government.

Prior to this role, Udhayanidhi was serving as the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, and his promotion had been anticipated for some time.

In addition to Udhayanidhi's appointment, Dr. Govi Chezhiaan was named the fourth Dalit minister, taking on the Higher Education portfolio. This reshuffle is seen as a key moment in consolidating leadership within the DMK, further positioning Udhayanidhi as a central figure in the party's future.

The plan to appoint Udhayanidhi Stalin as the deputy chief minister is in the mind of MK Stalin for a long time and he got the opportunity finally to bring the dream to reality. Udhaynidhi's appointment as DCM might definitely bring a lot of attention to the party and we have to see in which manner does this help in the upcoming elections.
