An ex-Governor's son-in-law and two others were convicted in a gun shooting incident that was reported at an Indian eatery. Despite bullet firing,none of them sustained injuries. The guilty were slapped with jail terms.
Going into details,a gun violence incident was reported from the PBK curry house, a Punjabi eatery in Greenford last year. A person came to the place and opened fire creating a ruckus.
It is said that the incident was pre-planned and the attack was planned to settle scores with the restaurant owner. The owner is said to be having issues with another partner and to inculcate fear,the attack was planned.
Hong Kong’s last governor Chris Patten's Son-in-law Elton Charles, 51, was convicted in the shooting case under charges of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, reports said. He is also accused of helping his half-brother who carried out the attack.
His wife and family members are said to be present in the court when the verdict was announced and they burst into tears.
The verdict in the case was given by the judge after going through the CCTV footage and other evidence that was submitted. The trial lasted for five weeks and finally the convicts were slapped with jail terms.
While Elton Charges is believed to have said he has no idea about the attack, his brother St Aimie pleaded guilty for the charges and two other defendants were also convicted in the case.
Observers say that the incident is an eye opener for the tense situation as far as the gun violence is concerned and strict laws should be brought to fight this.
