Want US Green Card? Get Ready To Wait 195 Years!

The green card that allows per permanent residency in the United States is one of the most rewarding documentations for any individual globally. This is particularly prevalent to the Indian community who can go to any extent to secure the United States Green card.

In this context, we have something extremely interesting happening now as the existing backlogs and failure in clearance of adequate procedures has resulted in extreme delay in processing of green card.

The latest updates are suggesting that the statistics are so very severe that it would take at least 195 years for an Indian origin individual to get a United States green card at this point.

This is calculated based on the employment percentage, and also the existing backlogs in the processing of the green card procedure in the first place.

At the same time, India ranks 4th in the world for green cards actually received in FY2025 (62,730). India's is worse in terms of new processing, specifically in employment-based categories, because that's where its application volume collides hardest with the 7% ceiling.
