United States president, Donald Trump created a new problem to the Indian working population in United States by imposing a massive 100K dollar fee on H1B visas.

A fresh wave of criticism is building around recent United States immigration policies that many observers say are collecting huge visa fees while offering little or no real processing in return.

According to immigration policy analyst David J. Bier from the Cato Institute, U.S. authorities have reportedly collected more than one billion dollars in visa application fees from people whose cases were either stalled, paused, or unlikely to be approved under new restrictions. Critics argue this raises serious questions about fairness and transparency.

New executive measures have expanded visa restrictions to dozens of additional countries. In many cases, applicants were not informed in advance that their nationality placed them under these tighter rules. As a result, many people went through interviews, paperwork, and fee payments despite having very slim chances of getting approval.

At the same time, processing for work permits, green cards, and other immigration benefits has been slowed or re reviewed, even for people already living legally in the United States. Earlier approvals are now being re examined before any further steps are allowed.

Immigrant visa processing for citizens of many countries is also reportedly frozen. While adopted children of U.S. citizens remain exempt, several other close family categories do not receive similar consideration.

Even the Diversity Visa lottery program is affected. Applicants can still apply and attend interviews, but visas are not being issued, while the fees continue to be collected at every stage. The growing concern is that the system is taking money from hopeful applicants without providing a realistic path forward.
