Absolute Shock: Cognizant Can’t Sponson Green Cards, Indians In Trouble?
The United States immigration authorities have been taking pretty strong measures against the international immigration and particularly the Indian population too.
The United States immigration authorities have been taking pretty strong measures against the international immigration and particularly the Indian population too.
Now something pretty drastic has happened with regard to the green card sponsorship program that is carried out by the cognizant technology. This company has been suspended from sponsoring the green cards to the international community in the United States.
According to the latest developments that are in circulation in global media, the US just suspended Cognizant's green card sponsorship filings amid an H-1B and PERM visa fraud investigation.
The Labor Department communicates the same while announcing the move, tied to a nationwide fraud probe that started back in July. This could be pretty strong in terms of consequences to the Indian community in United States
Cognizant is one of the biggest H-1B sponsors in the entire country, and a federal jury already found the company discriminated against non Indian workers in a separate case.
This could open the door to more scrutiny on other big Indian IT firms like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and HCL, since they all lean heavily on the same visa programs. So it can perhaps be argued that the entire Indian community in the United States could be facing troubles with regard to the green card program.
If this is an indication of what is to come, then things are not looking promising for the Indian community in the United States. More scrutiny will lead to further consequences and more rejections of the Green card programs.
