Want US Tourist Visa? How Long Is the Wait?

The volume of the Indian immigration population that has been travelling to the United States has been on a constant rise in recent years. This hit a new peak after the demand for the tourist visa, has also spiked up in the recent years.

However, acquiring the United States tourist visa is also not an easy job as it usually incorporate lengthy waiting times and also straining regulatory procedures.

For the time being, let us have a look at the visa appointment waiting times in five major Indian cities for August and September 2025. Chennai shows the biggest improvement, with the average wait dropping from 8.5 months in August to 2.5 months in September, and the next available date improving from 5 months to 3 months.

Hyderabad’s average wait remains steady at 3 months, while the next available date slightly improves from 5 to 3.5 months. Kolkata sees a small improvement, with the wait time reducing from 6 to 5.5 months.

Mumbai’s waiting time increases slightly from 3 to 4.5 months, and the next available date shortens from 5.5 to 5 months. New Delhi, however, shows a mixed trend: while the average wait drops from 4.5 to 3.5 months, the next available appointment gets delayed from 5.5 to 12 months.

Overall, most cities show improvement, except New Delhi’s scheduling delay. Comparatively Hyderabad is better, but in terms of share numbers, this is also elongated waiting periods for the US visitor visa.
