The United States of America administration has been going particularly hard against the illegal immigration population. And now the latest developments are suggesting that the administration is taking further steps to enhance the operation.

The United States government has introduced a new policy offering a financial incentive to undocumented immigrants to voluntarily leave the country, sparking global attention.

Under this initiative, illegal immigrants who choose to self deport will receive an exit bonus of 2,600 US dollars, along with a free flight back to their home country. This roughly converts to ₹2.6 lakhs in financial incentives for leaving the country along with a free flight ticket.

The programme, known as Project Homecoming, is being implemented by the Department of Homeland Security as part of a broader strategy to reduce illegal immigration in a cost effective and non confrontational way.

Migrants can register through the CBP Home mobile application, where they submit their details and request assistance for departure.

Officials say the scheme allows individuals to return home without facing arrest, detention, or legal penalties, making it a more humane alternative compared to forced deportation. At the same time, the government also aims to cut costs, as voluntary departures are significantly cheaper than traditional deportation processes.

The initiative has been widely promoted through social media campaigns featuring global landmarks, including India’s Taj Mahal, to attract migrants from various countries.
