This is why many people from Hyderabad queue up to visit their hometowns.
The Sankranthi festival, this time, arrived around the weekend. This is why many people from Hyderabad queue up to visit their hometowns. Everywhere you look in the city, there is congestion. Not only the roads. Secunderabad, Nampally, and Kacheguda railway stations, as well as MGBS and JBS, are packed with passengers.
A major traffic jam has occurred on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway. Vehicles are lined up for kilometers near the Pantangi and Korlapahad toll gates. As a result, traffic is moving slowly. With thousands of vehicles on the road at once, the traffic is moving very slowly. There is also heavy congestion on the roads leading to the districts. Vehicles are getting jammed near the toll gates.
On the other hand, private travel agencies are cashing in on the Sankranti rush. They are charging double and triple fares to cheat passengers. They are charging double or triple the price of a ticket that costs a thousand rupees.
It usually costs less than a thousand to go from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. But they are charging 1500 to 2500. However, it is common to witness such a rush especially at the time of festivals.
