Was YCP Not TDP The First Choice Of BJP For Alliance?
Everything is done and dusted on the alliance between the opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh
Everything is done and dusted on the alliance between the opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh. Recreating 2014 scenes, the three parties BJP.TDP and Janasena came under one roof to face elections. The seat sharing was also finalised between the parties. The parties are busy campaigning for the elections.
Earlier there were a few doubts on whether BJP would join TDP and Janasena. TDP and Janasena said BJP will also be a part of the alliance. But the BJP took some time to give the response. Despite making a late entry, the BJP had managed to get a good number of seats.
Amid this YCP senior leader Vijayasai Reddy shared an interesting thing. In an interview, he recalled a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the offer that was placed before Jagan.
Vijayasai Reddy said that YCP was asked to be a part of the NDA alliance but they denied it saying it won't match the principles of the party. What he said grabbed everyone’s attention as the elections were around the corner.
With this many wonder if BJP offered the chance to YCP first and it went to the TDP with no positive response from the YCP. BJP has no strong ground in AP and it wants a force to enter the state and open an account. With this, it agreed to be a part of an alliance.
Going by what Vijayasai Reddy said, two things are clear here. One is that YCP might be the BJP’s first preference for alliance but not the TDP. The second thing is that earlier the TDP leaders that the BJP asked the party to come back to the alliance fold. This raises the doubt on whether BJP asked the TDP to be a part of the alliance after YCP denied the offer.
