We are living in a civilized society. However, we still see a few communities being subjected to unfortunate incidents. Shockingly, the communities that are part and parcel of the society are facing such treatment. An alleged mistreatment of members of a community became the talk of the town.
Going into details, the Court found a YSRCP MLA candidate guilty in a shocking head-tonsuring case. He and other accused who have been facing allegations of harassing a few Dalits were convicted by the Court. After a long wait of 27 years, the verdict was given.
Thota Trimurthulu,a YCP MLA candidate for the 2024 polls faced a big shock as the Court convicted him in the case. The case traces back to 1996 and cut to 2024 the verdict was given and the accused were slapped with a jail term.
The MLA candidate was slapped with an 18 months jail term and six months imprisonment was slapped against all the suspects in the case. With this, the total jail term goes to 24 months which is two years.
With this, a big debate was started on what would be the future of the MLA candidate to see whether he would be disqualified or not. The doubt was raised as the rules say the same.
Those who were sentenced to two years of imprisonment will be disqualified. Earlier the likes of MLA Vikram Singh Saini, MP P P Mohammed Faisal, Azam Khan, Anil Kumar Sahni, Pradeep Chaudhary, and others were disqualified due to two years jail term.
If the leaders face two years of jail then they would be disqualified by the EC. We have seen a few examples of this in the recent past. Leaders who have a big legacy and belong to big parties were also disqualified. Now the focus went on to Mandapeta YCP candidate Thota Trimurthulu to see what happens with him.
The elections are not far away from now in the state. The focus is on the issue to see what happens. On the other hand, the MLA candidate already managed to get the bail along with the other accused.
