The Indian student community in the United States has been on high alert since the onset of the Donald Trump administration. This is primarily due to the strong measures being taken by the Trump administration with regard to the ongoing immigration and international visa policies.

The United States has started a strict crackdown on F-1 student visas, creating fear among many international students, especially from India. Recently, over 1,800 F-1 student visas were cancelled.

This happened because of issues in the SEVIS system (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) or sudden cancellations by the U.S. State Department. Many students were affected even though they had not done anything seriously wrong.

Some of these visa issues were caused by automatic systems that flagged students for old arrests, traffic tickets, or charges that did not lead to a conviction. In some cases, students were even affected because of their posts on social media or political opinions.

A few students were able to fix the problem by going to court, getting their SEVIS records reactivated, and applying for new I-20 forms. But many others are still waiting without answers, stuck in a confusing and stressful situation.

This crackdown has left many students in fear of losing their education, future, and the money they already spent. Experts say this is a harsh move and has created a lot of mental pressure on students who only want to study and build their careers in the U.S.
