Pakistan Team Expected To Get A New Skipper Soon?
Pakistan will face four tough teams next and losing at least one match might make it tough for the team.
The Men In Green led by Babar Azam is not having a good run in the World Cup. The Pakistan team lost three back-to-back matches. As far as the Net Run Rate is concerned, the team is not in a good position and the chances to reach the semis look very blink.
Pakistan will face four tough teams next and losing at least one match might make it tough for the team. The way the team is playing is getting a wide range of criticism from various corners. The former players are using strong words to slam the team and the management.
Former speedster Wasim Akram made brutal comments on the team and raised questions on the fitness. Saying that fitness is not a criteria in the team it used to be a criterion when Misbah-ul-Haq used to be the coach of the team. Reacting to the defeat to Afghanistan, Wasim Akram said that it appears the players are eating 8 kilos of meat every day.
Another veteran player Shoaib Akhtar also did not hold back reacting to the team’s performance. He said that there is nothing to say about the performance as there is a need to put the right person on the job. The speedster asked on what basis the Cricket Board Chairman is appointed.
As if that is not enough, the Pakistan team might also see the skipper changing. As per the reports that are doing rounds, Babar Azam is likely to be sacked as the skipper. Pakistan already lost hope of the 2023 World Cup and only a miracle can take it to the semis.
To have at least hopes for the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board is said to be focusing on changing the skipper and a few names are being considered as the possible candidates.
Under Babar Azam’s captaincy Pakistan team lost the Asia Cup. India crushed the team so badly that it recorded the biggest victory by India against the team. Everyone hoped that Pakistan might at least give a good performance in the WC, but in vain.
Reports say that Sarfaraz Ahmed, Muhammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi are being considered for the post. If the Pakistan Boards wants different skippers for White Ball and Red Ball formats, Sarfaraz Ahmed might lead the team in ODI and Test formats, and Young bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi might lead the team in the T20 format.
