Indian BO: Which Will Be Next 1000 Cr Film?

The Indian box office is slowly but surely normalising the massive Rs 1000 crore trend at the global box office as we have been having consistent 1000 crore films every year.

The ₹1000 crore club has slowly become the ultimate benchmark for Indian cinema, achieved only by true event films with massive theatrical pull.

From Dangal and Baahubali 2 in 2017 to KGF 2 and RRR in 2022, the trend has shown that scale, emotion and repeat value are crucial. After Jawan and Pathaan in 2023, and Kalki 2898 AD along with Pushpa 2 in 2024, 2025 added a surprise entry with Dhurandhar joining this elite list.

Looking ahead to 2026, the big question is which film can carry forward this legacy. Spirit stands out as a prime contender. Prabhas teaming up with Sandeep Reddy Vanga has created enormous curiosity across languages. If the film delivers strong content with mass appeal, the numbers could be historic.

Another strong possibility is Ramayana Part One. Mythological films have universal appeal, and if the visuals and storytelling strike the right chord, it can dominate both domestic and overseas markets.

Tiger vs Pathaan is also a major contender. Bringing together two of Bollywood’s biggest superstars guarantees massive openings, and with the right execution, long runs are possible.

Ultimately, 2026 will depend on which film turns into a cultural moment rather than just a big release.
