Actor Radha Files Rs 46 Crore Cheque Complaint Against Sister Ambika

Veteran actress Radha has filed a police complaint against her sister and actress Ambika and their brother Mallikarjuna over an alleged cheque-related dispute. The complaint was submitted to the Greater Chennai Police Commissioner on September 21.

According to Radha's complaint, she had kept some signed blank cheques at her Chennai residence. She said these cheques were kept for regular expenses such as salaries, electricity bills, taxes and garden maintenance when she was travelling.

Radha reportedly had an IDBI Bank current account connected to her business activities. The account was earlier operated under the name ARS Garden Studio. After the business was renamed RR Gardens in January 2025, she received a new cheque book and stopped using the older one.

According to her complaint, she later realised that some of the old cheques were still at her residence. She said she was informed by the bank on September 17 that five of those old cheques had been presented for payment.

The amount involved was reportedly around Rs 46 crore, with the cheques allegedly presented in Ambika's name.

Radha has alleged that she did not give the cheques to Ambika and had no financial agreement with her for such a payment. She also alleged that their brother Mallikarjuna filled in the cheque details.

The actress has further claimed that the cheques may have been taken from her room while she was away from Chennai. She has asked the police to investigate the matter and take action if the allegations are established.

The complaint also refers to a larger family property dispute. Radha has alleged that she has been unable to enter a family property for around one and a half years. She reportedly claimed that important documents, jewellery and other valuables are kept there.

However, these are allegations made in the police complaint and have not been established by a court. The police investigation is expected to examine how the cheques were accessed, who filled them and how they were presented for payment.

Radha and Ambika are both well-known names in South Indian cinema. Radha became a leading actress during the 1980s and worked with stars including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Ambika also enjoyed a successful career in Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada films.

The sisters have appeared together in several films during their careers. The latest dispute has now brought their family issues into public attention.
