Tulasi Retirement Announcement Shocks Industry With Sudden Deadline Reveal
Retirements usually pop up in IT offices or politics, not from actors with decades of work behind them.

So when senior actress Tulasi suddenly said she’s retiring on December 31, the whole industry kind of paused. This is the same Tulasi who started way back in 1967 with Bharya and went on hopping across Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and even Bhojpuri films. More than 300 movies, that’s not a small number. People didn’t expect a “final date” announcement from her, at least not so bluntly.
In the last few years, she was still around, doing roles here and there. Folks remember her from F3, where she played Venkatesh’s stepmother, and from a few Prabhas projects and other films. They didn’t turn into big hits, and honestly her roles didn’t get that major push either, but she always had this familiar vibe on screen. Lately she wasn’t doing much anyway, almost like she was slowly stepping out without saying it.
Tulasi also kept mentioning her devotion to Sai Baba from time to time, and now she’s tied everything to that. On December 31, she plans to visit Shirdi, take darshan, and basically call it a wrap on her acting journey on the same day. Simple, peaceful exit. For someone who played mother to half the stars in the industry, this kind of quiet goodbye feels both sweet and a little heavy.
She posted a greeting card saying, “Happy retirement! Here’s to enjoying every minute of your newfound freedom and adventures.” And her caption had that personal touch: “In continuation of my Shirdi darshan this December 31, I wish myself a happy retirement, will continue my journey in peace with Sainadha. Thanking all for helping me learn life. Sairam.” Fans are sending her love, blessings, and that mild ache that comes when a long-time familiar face decides to rest.
